In the language of the Web CMS stands for Content Management System, an expression that literally translates as "content management system." This is a web application, as is software that instead of being installed on the PC is installed on a site, for easier content management, to speed up the process of positioning, to make your life easier and have landmarks easily identifiable on the web.
So you use a CMS to put up a website, a blog, a forum, a community, a newsletter, a social network and much more in a short time and with pleasing results in terms of graphics.
The CMS was first invented in 1995 in America, today there are dozens of these applications.
Many wonder what is the best, but it is impossible to answer, or rather the only possible answer is: it depends on what you should do, by project, by the way you set, dall'intuitività panel of administration, by ' existence of modules or plugins for extra features, content and its potential.
What you can do is point out the three CMS longer valid in terms of support in Italian, guides, presence in the community of users.
Joomla! : recommended for those who must make a site quickly, fast, can be integrated with many additional components, has many advantages. The main disadvantage is the excessive number of files which make up the application itself, thousands of files that might make life difficult for those who want to change the details (both structural and graphic), especially for beginners. There are numerous community and forums all'interno of which are important resources (Guide, questions and answers among users, etc.).
Drupal : Surely those who work with CMS sooner or later will have to do with Drupal, there are many files in it (however much lower in Joomla!), but they are far justified by the power of this CMS. in this case the extensions are numerous and allow you to create portals of all kinds. The two main communities are overcrowded, even from users who are able to provide useful and accurate responses.
Wordpress : Until recently, you have not even considered as a full CMS to manage portals, but only as a useful tool for managing a blog. But today more and more people create entire portal based on WordPress, thanks to the additional plugins is able to face competition in the applications mentioned above. The community is relatively small but active. In contrast to Joomla! Drupal and is composed of a few files and a few tables in the MySQL database, making it slightly easier to change some details from the original files.
